Leadership

Traditionally, formal leadership roles were held by Hmong men. Today, elected officials in the Hmong community are diverse by backgrounds, ages, positions, and gender. From the first elected Hmong official, Choua Lee, to the first Asian female mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota, Kaohly Vang Her, Hmong leadership has come a very long way from the mountains of Laos to the lakes of Minnesota.
